West Australian owned CTEC, has been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the New Diamantina Power Station, Mt Isa, QLD.
The plant will provide the energy needs for not only the major mining contractors but also the local residents of the township, as well as other potential customers in the region.
The schedule for the project will see a two staged completion process with stage one being completed in December 2013 and stage 2 about three months later. The project will employ in excess of 500 personnel over the contract period, providing opportunities to the local industry in Mt Isa as well as interstate and internationally.
CTEC Managing Director Neil Robinson said the initial development work we carried out during the bidding stage identified the SGT800 as the most efficient technical solution for the load characteristics and environmental restraints. Hence we worked closely with both Siemens Australia and their solutions group based in Sweden to develop the “Best Fit” solution for the customer across a wide range of operational requirements.
CTEC is a global provider of project solutions to the energy and utilities sector. Based in Balcatta, CTEC is currently constructing the Merredin Power Station and operates and maintains the Kwinana Swift Power Plant in WA.
