CTEC reached a major project milestone on Saturday 20th February, with the arrival of 2 Pratt and Whitney Power Systems (PWPS) SwiftPac Gas Turbines (GT’s) at the Kwinana Swift Power Station site.
On arrival the GT’s where lifted off low loader trucks and placed successfully onto pre-prepared foundations which allowed only millimetres of error.
Kevin Robinson Operations Director commended the effort of all at site, “There was no margin for error here with a millimetre perfect fit required onto Foundation Bolts, the turbines fit perfectly. Well done to all involved.”
The two 60 MW turbines will combine to power the 120MW Open Cycle Power Station.
The GT’s arrived on site at 8.30 Saturday morning ending a 3 month journey which began in Houston Texas in early December.
Customs cleared the turbines late last week allowing them to be hoisted off the boat and placed onto six low loader trucks which transported the varying parts of the turbines from Fremantle Port to the Kwinana Swift site.
This milestone comes as the Kwinana Site reach 25,000 lost time injury free man hours. Over the next 28 days the site will continue its outstanding efforts and begin build commencement works.
Friday the 20th of August, marks the successful completion of the Kwinana Swift Power Station as the Minister of Energy Peter Collier officially opened the plant.
First fire in Gas Turbine 2 at the Kwinana Swift Power Station marks the completion of the cold commissioning for the Gas Turbines.
Thursday 20th May at 6pm CTEC site crew received the first shipment of 50,000L of diesel fuel oil which will be used to power the 2 FT8-3 Swiftpac Gas Turbines at the Kwinana Swift Power Station.
