Ctec Mirror Range multi-location switching uses wireless linking between compatible switches. It does not use traditional traveller wires between the switch positions. The exact setup depends on the product SKU and smart-home platform.
One load switch, plus wireless dummy switches
A licensed electrician wires one switch to the light load. Additional compatible switches act as dummy switches: they are not connected to the light load, and are linked with the load switch through the supported app or smart-home setup. This lets people control the same lighting from more than one location.
Wireless linking changes how the switches communicate with each other; it does not remove the need for correct electrical installation. Use the wiring diagram for the exact model and have all hardwired switches installed by a licensed electrician.
For a HomeKit 2-way setup
For the HomeKit version, create four separate automations in Apple Home so each switch mirrors the other switch’s on and off state:
When Switch A turns on, turn Switch B on.
When Switch A turns off, turn Switch B off.
When Switch B turns on, turn Switch A on.
When Switch B turns off, turn Switch A off.
For 3-way control
Three-way control follows the same wireless multi-location principle, with one load switch and additional dummy switches. The pairing and automation steps depend on the model and platform. Confirm the exact SKU instructions before setup; do not use a conventional traveller-wire diagram as a substitute for the Ctec product diagram.
Before fit-off
Confirm each switch SKU and whether it is a HomeKit or non-HomeKit model.
Plan which switch connects to the light load and where each dummy switch will go.
Give your licensed electrician the wiring diagram for the exact SKU.
After installation, follow the relevant app or Apple Home steps to link the switches and test both on and off actions from each location.
